Parents & Students

Parent Cooperation

The parents are the first teachers of their children in the ways of our faith. They are also the best teachers as evidenced through the Rite of Baptism. Parents, Church and school should cooperate in Spiritual matters. It is vital that parents set an example of sincere Christian living by creating a religious atmosphere in the home, by family prayer, frequent reception of the Sacraments and regular participation at Sunday Mass.

Parents can help their children through school by following the suggestions listed below.

  1. Assure your children that you love them.
  2. Provide time for opportunities to talk with you about things in general, or about activities in school and in particular about lessons, books and projects.
  3. Take time to read to the younger ones each evening before bedtime. Classics and Bible stories are excellent choices.
  4. Help them abide by some type of daily schedule or routine for homework, television watching, home responsibilities, etc.
  5. Make sure they get plenty of rest each night. At least 8 hours are needed for healthy bodies and minds.
  6. Be sure you are an example of the type of personality you desire for your children.
  7. Provide an opportunity for your children to develop spiritual faith that they can rely on during difficult growing years and when Mom and Dad are no longer available for guidance.

Parent/Teacher Conferences

Parent/teacher conferences will be scheduled throughout the school year. We urge all parents to consult with teachers about the progress of their children. Always contact the teacher first before calling the administration with a concern.

Parental Communication with the School (Complaints)

Persons with concerns about a teacher should first attempt to address the concern with the teacher. Only after such attempts have failed should the parent contact the principal. If the parent continues to be dissatisfied, the parent should contact the pastor. Only after such attempts have failed should the Department of Schools be contacted.

Parent and School Organization

The Parent and School Organization is the parent organization of the school which support administration and teachers. All parents of St. Andrew Catholic School are expected to be active members and take part in school affairs. The aim of the organization is to cooperate with teachers and administration so that the spiritual growth and academic excellence of the students may be preserved and fostered.

The organization helps with the fund raising necessary to help meet the needs of the school. They help coordinate social functions during the year. Scheduled meetings are held throughout the year.
